About Northern Counties

The Northern Counties aim is to promote the game of golf to ladies and juniors across the seven counties of Scotland with over 60 clubs involved. You can find out about our Constitution, see who is on our Committee and read about our funding here.

Who we are

The Northern Counties was established in 1967. We cover all clubs north of the Spey River who are attached to Scottish Golf.

We have more than 60 affiliated clubs and try to play our fixtures across the area over a period of years. Please view a list of our clubs and delegates.

What we do

Our overall aim is to promote the game of golf to ladies and junior girls in the Northern Counties Area.  We aim to do that by

providing opportunities for junior girls and ladies to improve their golf by organisiing competitions to suit all levels and abilities. Keeping members informed of events, competitions and developments within Northern Counties, and promoting friendships and fun through playing golf.

Our team

Each year the County Team plays in the Inter-County Championship (Jamboree) against the county teams from Perth & Kinross, Angus and Aberdeenshire.  The winner represents the North of Scotland in the Scottish County Finals played in September against the winners of the South, East and West of Scotland jamborees. The Northern Counties team were the Scottish County Champions in 2009.

Each County hosts the event once every four years and in 2017 the Jamboree was hosted at The Nairn Golf Club.
